Prominent Ear Correction
Failure of the ear to develop properly during intrauterine life, is the cause of prominent ears.
Ears can appear to be a long way out from the side of the head and even in young children, can be a cause of teasing and embarrassment. For this reason we recommend correction of prominent ears at an early age.
Young children require a general anaesthetic for the procedure and usually stay in hospital overnight.
Adults usually elect an operation under local anaesthetic and return to work after a week or so.
The results of this operation are dependable and consequences other than some postoperative discomfort are minimal.
